Am I entitled to a free student version?
Vectorworks Designer with Renderworks 2011, our top-of-the-line product, is available free to bona fide University, TAFE or Tertiary College students enrolled in a recognised course that requires CAD (computer aided design). Click here if you are a High School student.
How does the student version work?
The student version of Vectorworks comes with the full suite of modules - Fundamentals, Architect Australia, Landmark, Spotlight, and Renderworks.
It is fully functional, cross platform (Mac and Windows) and will run for 12 months. If you are still an eligible student after your licence expires, you may apply for a free extension of your licence, or a new version of the software.
Are there any limitations on the student version?
Drawings created with the student version will print with an outline education watermark in the border at the top and bottom of the page. However, if your institution has Vectorworks 2011 installed on their network, and you print from one of their networked computers, there will be no watermark on your drawing.
Drawings created with the student version cannot be opened in the professional version, and student licences may not be used for any commercial purpose.
PDF files created using the Export PDF function in the Vectorworks 2011 student version cannot be opened or edited in Adobe software like Illustrator or Photoshop.
Is technical support available?
Technical support for the free student version is only available by email. It is offered to assist with installation or licence activation issues only. Please use the appropriate Support Request Form on this page of our web site to send a tech support email.
Vectorworks comes with an on-line user guide and downloadable Quickstart Guides.
How will I receive my licence?
The free student version is only available by download (approx 4gb). Since all requests must undergo an approval process which may take several days, students who urgently require the software can download and install a free 30-day version before the approval is complete. This option will be present at the completion of your online request.
We cannot supply installation DVDs. Some universities or colleges may have installation DVDs you can borrow. Please ask your lecturer or teacher about this.
